Our Board

Park Lawn Preschool Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of parents and community members. We take great pride in providing the best possible early learning environment to meet families’ needs. Our Board consists of dedicated professionals, community members and parents who volunteer their time and expertise to Park Lawn Preschool Inc. With the expertise of the Board, together we are able to make sound business and financial decisions to ensure delivery of quality programs.

Vacancies

We are always interested in receiving expressions of interest to join our Board even when there are no immediate vacancies to be able to fill future vacancies.  Please do not hesitate to reach out at any time.

Board of Directors on PLP’s Board Will:

Work on behalf of the whole organization representing all the clients

Understand my position and ask for an orientation session if I do not

Not benefit directly nor indirectly from being on the Board of Directors

Keep informed of developments that are relevant to issues that come before the Board

Be responsible and proactive for the group’s behaviour and productivity

Focus not only on the present but on the future needs of the community and the organization

Remember that all authority is vested in the whole Board when it meets in legal session and not individual Board members

Represent the interests of all the members

Work as a “trustee” of the organization and do my best to ensure the organization is financially secure and well managed

Declare if I do have a conflict of interest

Keep personal agendas off the Board table

Encourage everyone to participate and serve on committees as required

Ensure that Confidentiality and nondisclosure of personal information is strictly adhered to

Never exercise authority as a Board member except when acting in a meeting with the full Board, or as I am delegated by the Board

Come prepared to participate and on time

Do nothing to violate the trust of those who elected me to the Board

Avoid voting on issues that appear to be a conflict of interest

Take personal issues or concerns through the appropriate communication channels

Follow through on my commitment

Support the professional team but do not interfere with the management of the staff

Respect and support the Board’s final decision, speak as one voice

Term

Directors are elected at the Annual General Meeting for a two year term.

Time Commitment

Directors are expected to attend scheduled monthly meetings, as well as the AGM, organization events and functions.

Meetings

The Board meets once monthly for 11 months of the year, on the second Tuesday most months as per the schedule listed below.

Meetings are held virtually.

End of November 2025 - Budget Review

Park Lawn Preschool Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors consisting of parents and community members.

These meetings are only open to Directors, Supervisors and Managers, but parents can make a written request that an item or concern be added to an agenda and a written response will be sent.

All Family Members of Park Lawn Preschool Inc. are invited to the Annual General Meeting in June where the complete Audited Financial Statements are presented to interested parents and where eligible parents may be elected to vacancies in the Board of Directors.

Currently we have no vacancies on the Board. Please contact your centre supervisor or the Executive Director if you wish to submit an application to be considered for any current or future centre director vacancy.
